Our Story
An Idea is Born
I have been working with children for the past 20 years. During that time, I have noticed an increase in issues affecting children's physical abilities, social and emotional development and mental health.
I have seen an increase in issues such as anxiety, hyperactivity, a lack of self-esteem and resilience.
In 2013 I decided to combine my love of working with children and practicing Yoga.
I completed a foundation course teaching children's Yoga and the idea of Mel's Kids Yoga was born. Since then I have also completed the Advanced and Yoga therapy for special needs courses through Zenergy Yoga.
In 2021 I completed my Level 1 - 350 hours Yoga teacher training through My Health Yoga and became a registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia.

My aim is to provide a service where all children and teens feel like they belong are safe and comfortable to be themselves.

They feel connected to others and learn skills to reduce stress and anxiety, improve their overall health and
well-being.

Mel has been teaching yoga to our preschool team and children since 2018. We have done this through
face-to-face classes and via zoom. We love the calmness kindness and self-care Mel shares with us. It helps with managing little people’s anxiety and building self-esteem.
Over time the children are better able to self-regulate their emotions. They love the simple fun exercises and look forward to participating each week. The best thing is that we see the children practising what they’ve learnt in class and know that they will take these skills throughout life.
